A 53-year-old female patient coming from Chennai was apparently normal prior to the year before 2008.in April 2008 she underwent D&C for her heavy menstrual bleeding problem and she took hormonal therapy for 6 months. Suddenly she found stiffness present in her middle back which radiated upwards towards the shoulder and spread up to the breast area which lasted over a period of 2-3 months. but she didn’t seek any medical help at that time because of her tolerance. She consulted an allopathic physician whenever she felt difficulty in doing her daily activities and was admitted for 5 days in the hospital. after a series of tests, ANA and HLA b27 came positive and informed her that she was affected with an autoimmune disorder. The doctor put her on immunosuppressants and painkillers for 3 months. after that, for 9 months she didn’t seek much of help for arthritis. In 2018 she had dengue fever and after recovery, she developed right foot pain and eczema in both palms for 6 months. For that, she consulted an Ayurvedic physician and completely recovered from that. In 2019 august, again she felt pain, stiffness and swelling in her feet and joints. Then for that, she started taking immune suppressants and steroids.

In August 2019 she was admitted to SSANH with presenting complaints like pain,stiffness, swelling in the shoulder, neck, knees, fingers and ribs, cold intolerance and feverish feeling. The pain was more in the night hours, felt difficulty in lie flat in bed for long hours and Mild lower back pain with restricted flexibility to bend forward. She found difficulty To keep her body straight and automatically she started stooping. Stiffness was predominantly noticed in the morning hours and took at least 1 hour to release. Also, she complained of bladder and bowel incontinence.in April 2023 She had cataract surgery. Even after her surgery, her right eye pain didn’t go off. She developed uveitis all of a sudden in the morning and it was quite severe. Since then she started feeling heaviness in the muscles of the eye(drooping). Her consulting physician From SSANH, Dr. Sanand advised her to reduce the dosage of sulfasalazine and HCQS that she has been using continuously for the last 3 years. Then she gradually tapered the dose and She is not been used to any kind of painkillers now.
