Mrs. Sandhya, a 27 years old women from Mysore, Karnataka, came to our hospital in June 2018 with a severe condition of ITP(idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura with red spots on her hands, face, and pain in both the thighs since six months.

The patient had heavy menstrual bleeding and nasal bleeding, for which she consulted a physician who recommended getting a complete blood routine test done. The results showed a decreased platelet count (<10000cells/cu.mm).
Through allopathy, symptomatic management with steroids was tried, which gave her temporary relief, but soon enough, the same symptoms reappeared along with other problems like headache, blurring of vision, etc. after the withdrawal of medications. She also tried ayurvedic treatment at SDM Ayurveda Hospital, Udupi, where even after various treatments, the platelet count kept dropping, and it reached 7000 cells/cu.mm.

The patient was relieved of her symptoms of headache, blurred vision, excessive bleeding, etc. and a considerable rise in the platelet count was observed from increased from 10,000cells/cu.mm to 60,000 cells/cu.mm in her inpatient treatment duration of 35 days
The patient was then advised to continue medications and on follow up we found encouraging results
January 2019: 22,000cells/cu.mm
June2019: 70,000cells/cu.mm
January 2020: 1,60,000 cells/cu.mm.
