
What is psoriasis?
Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that causes itching, swelling, and cracking. In some cases, it is also associated with scalp patches and inflammation. Psoriasis mostly appears on elbows, knees, and around scalp areas. In Ayurveda concepts, it occurs due to the imbalance of Vata and Dosha. The disorder of Vata and Dosha imbalance leads to an accumulation of toxins in the body, causing chronic and acute health conditions. A certain disorder of Vata and Dosha can result in deeper tissue cracks, leading to psoriasis.
In Ayurveda, it is also claimed that the diagnosis of psoriasis is due to lifestyle adaptation, such as the intake of contractionary and confectionary-type foods, smoking, drug usage, alcohol consumption, and the intake of medicines causing side effects like rashes.
It can also occur due to psychological effects like stress, tension, and depression. Since our body is a totality of many elements, one disjunction may cause many side effects, either internally or externally. One such disorder is psoriasis. Psoriasis is a skin condition that is typically detected by the appearance of inflammation, scaly tissues, swelling, and an itching sensation. It is always better to consult a medically approved doctor before it gets prolonged, as it may deteriorate and take much longer to develop into a chronic condition.
Types of psoriasis

Plaque Psoriasis
This is the most common type of psoriasis found on the skin. Silvery white scales appear on the affected areas and this scaly skin condition is called plaque psoriasis

Nail Psoriasis
This kind of psoriasis is a condition that affects the toenails and fingernails. It creates discolouration and uneven growth, causing pitting. There sometimes occurs where the nail bed and nail get detached, causing pain; this condition is called onycholysis

Guttate Psoriasis
This psoriasis appears as red drop-like structures in a patchy condition all over the affected area. It appears in a cluster form.

Inverse psoriasis
It can affect the genital parts, breast area, and the middle, folding part of the body.

Pustular psoriasis
As the name denotes, there will be small pus-filled plaques in the area of the palm or soles of feet, which is most likely the symptom for pustular psoriasis.

Erythrodermic psoriasis
A severe condition of psoriasis where a large area of skin is affected, causing massive discolouration and skin shedding.

Scalp psoriasis
It covers the scalp section either completely or around the neck and ears. It may resemble dandruff, but it is not the same thing. It may also appear on the forehead
