Overcoming Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Successful Case Study

In August, Maneesh from West Bengal consulted Dr Sanand from Sree Subramanya Ayurvedic Nursing Home with RA positive results. The diagnosis was made in April and revealed positive results for RA, CRP, anti-CCP, and ESR. In 2021, he tested positive for COVID-19 and had to isolate at home for 14 days. After that, he experienced pain and swelling in both of his wrist joints, which continued for 20 days. The pain was localized to a specific area in both wrist joints, but it later spread to other joints such as the elbow and shoulder. He neglected the pain as it was self-subsiding in nature. Later He started experiencing severe pain and swelling that seemed to move and change location, alternating between shoulder, elbow and wrist joints in the body which persisted for 3 weeks. When he began experiencing troublesome symptoms, he decided to seek medical attention and scheduled an appointment with a physician. The physician recommended conducting an RA factor and CRP test to diagnose the underlying cause of the symptoms. Both tests came back negative, and the physician prescribed medication for a month. The patient experienced symptomatic improvement.

However, after one year, the patient experienced unbearable swelling in his left ankle one night. Upon consulting with a doctor, an X-ray and USG were recommended, and it was determined that the patient had developed inflammatory arthritis. he used sulfasalazine continuously for 3 months Pain and selling decreased considerably. After a few months, the patient again experienced migratory pain in their ankle and wrist which persisted for a long time. During that time his RA and CRP tested positive. As per the doctors’ advice, he continued taking sulfasalazine. He gradually developed stiffness in his joints which persisted for 2-3 hours, especially in the morning. However, he noticed that the symptoms considerably reduced after 2-2.30 in the afternoon. Although his bowel and appetite were normal, his sleep was disturbed due to pain. During a physical examination, restrictions in joint movements and crepitus were noticed in both knee joints.
